Our Artifacts displayed at Collingwood Town Hall

Artifacts displayed at Collingwood Town Hall

The Nottawasaga Lighthouse Preservation Society (NLPS) was delighted to present to a full house at the large conference room at the Collingwood Legion on June 3rd. This event was created to increase awareness of our efforts to preserve the lighthouse as well as to sell memberships and announce donations to our society.

A display of lighthouse artifacts was on hand with questions ably answered by our resident expert Robert Square.

The launch was kicked off by¬†Gary Pattenden, a local musician who wrote a special song for us about the lighthouse. From there we presented background about our organization, it’s preservation efforts and some history of the tower. Our engineer Doug Hackbart gave a presentation outlining the condition, the recommended course of action and potential costs.

A question and answer session followed. Members of the audience were able to enjoy refreshments including cupcakes with our logo in icing on top!

We believe that awareness is growing daily and with the cooperation of all levels of government coupled with the required fundraising we can restore this lighthouse to it’s former glory! A big shout out is in order to the citizens of Collingwood who showed their support at the launch.
